English Department

Welcome to the online home of the North Reading High School English Department.  A minimum of four English Language Arts courses are required for graduation and students are encouraged to select additional electives.  The English Language Arts curriculum emphasizes the importance of effective communication through critical thinking, speaking, and writing.  Students participate in a balanced program designed to refine their skills in reading, grammar usage, and vocabulary and to foster their appreciation of literature.  In each course, students are engaged in a variety of activities that will provide them with the necessary knowledge and resources to continue personal and intellectual development throughout their lives.
